How long have you worked with Zodiac Light Waves Inc.?

I started working with Zodiac in December 2020. Mehdi and I had met several years ago at The Rotary Club of Orléans. He’s a community-minded individual and so am I. Then I met him again at the Chamber of Commerce when I was the President and when I started a consulting firm he wanted to know if I would work with him and I said absolutely.

What does your job entail? 

I am a procurement expert, which means that I have been getting Zodiac registered with the Government of Ontario to do business, security clearances, and other opportunities. I was asked to start putting in bids on different levels of government including school boards. Together we are expanding the business and because I’m bilingual we are now able to do some work in Quebec.

What do you like most about your job?

Meeting new people, solving problems, and helping people. When you’re helping folks you feel good about it. I’m semi-retired so it’s not about the money anymore, it\’s about how you feel doing it.

What is the best career lesson you\’ve learned so far?

Find a good boss and work with people you like to work with and who respect you. If they won\’t treat you well or respect you, get out of there.

If you were stuck on an island what three things would you bring?

Do you have a favourite quote?

What has been the most important innovation you have witnessed in your lifetime?

The cellphone’s ability to produce instant communication. The fact that we’ve gone cellular has changed the world. Instant communication and all the things with it, Facetime, texting, video teleconference calls, everything. It’s changed. I can call anywhere in the world and not pay a penny. It’s incredible.

What is your personal philosophy?

Work hard, play hard, for sports and other different types of activities. Party hard, enjoy life, because you never know when you\’re gonna be hit by a bus or lightning or whatever so enjoy life to its fullest.

What is your favourite thing to do in the wonderful City of Ottawa

I enjoy walking along the natural green spaces, by the water, and admiring the natural beauty of the City of Ottawa.
